E-Learning

Web-CT and Distance Learning

The School of Computing and Information Engineering has enhanced the delivery of modules used on its courses through the use of WebCT. WebCT, Inc. is a leading provider of e-Learning solutions for higher education.

The University of Ulster has recently developed a team dedicated to the use of e-Learning within higher education and the School of Computing and Information Systems has become one of the main exponents in the use of e-Learning within its graduate and undergraduate programmes. Currently the School provides e-Learning support to all undergraduate and postgraduate modules.

The exact format used will reflect the requirements of the modules, the needs of the students and the assessment process involved. The benefits of WebCT include:

  1. A consistent platform for module delivery
  2. A mechanism for student-student and lecture-student interaction
  3. The ability to deliver modules in a variety of modes to suit the topic:
    1. Pure e-Learning.
    2. As a combination of e-Learning and taught components

The resulting facilities support distance learning delivery to enhance the educational experience of students locally and around the world.
