Civic Recognition for Kyle

Kyle receives a plaque from Councillor Mervyn Oswald
Mayor of Newtownards

Second Year computing student Kyle Davidson has been given a special award from Newtownards Borough Council to mark his achievement in having an iPhone app launched on Apple's iconic Appstore.

The app, "MakeSense", aims to help families affected by autism by providing a facility for the creation of interactive guides - step-by-step reminders on everyday activities such as making a cup of tea, catching a bus, or any other situation. It was developed during the Kainos App Camp, a summer programme of intensive software development sponsored by the local software company.

Kyle's app came to the attention of Councillor Mervyn Oswald, Mayor of Newtownards, who invited Kyle and his familly to the Mayor's Parlour, where Kyle was presented with a plaque to mark his achievement. Kyle commented, "I was awarded with a plaque for the computing work I've been doing to try and help people. This was a massive honour for me and really just put the icing on the cake that was all of the support I've had from my local community."

Kyle now plans to develop the app for the Windows 7 Phone platform
