Welcome to CSPT

The Centre for Software Process Technologies (CSPT) is a research and knowledge transfer organisation hosted in the Faculty of Computing and Engineering in the University of Ulster. The centre provides infrastructural support for the technological needs of the software industry. This is achieved through engaging in applied research with commercial software development organisations to improve the efficiency, effectiveness and quality of their processes and products. This activity falls broadly into 4 categories:

  1. Software Process Improvement Frameworks,
  2. Software Engineering Project Management,
  3. Effective Software Engineering practices
  4. Management and Engineering Metrics.

Background & Objectives

The Centre for Software Process Technologies (CSPT) was established in September 2002. It is jointly funded by the University of Ulster and the EU Programme for Peace and Reconciliation through InvestNI's RTD Centres of Excellence Programme.

Its work entails

  • ongoing investigation and understanding of the needs of the software industry
    • leading to opportunities for research
    • transferring innovative ideas and processes into industry
  • building working relationships with national and international organisations
  • integrating the resulting knowledge into undergraduate and postgraduate curricula
