Faculty Overview

The Faculty of Computing and Engineering at the University of Ulster is involved in teaching, research and enterprise in the areas of Computing and Electrical & Mechanical Engineering.

The Faculty is structured as four academic Schools across three campuses: Coleraine, Jordanstown and Magee. The Schools are:

This web site provides information about the work of the Faculty and the opportunities it offers. General information for all visitors is given on the top page. The index list on the left hand side of that page identifies more specific topics, for different types of visitor. The central part of the top page shows a stream of news stories about the Faculty. These are extracted from the general news feed from the University. To the right of the news stories, is notification of upcoming events and descriptions of recent developments in the Faculty. Those looking for job opportunities should select the Jobs link. At present this shows all jobs in the University but will shortly change to identify just those offered by the Faculty.

Many visitors to the site are prospective students trying to identify a course to match their interests and aspirations. The courses are managed within each School. The courses currently available can be found by following the links shown or by studying the complete prospectus for the University.

The Faculty has a significant involvement in research in a number of areas. Details of the groups and centres undertaking research are provided, together with information on specific projects and publications that have emerged from this work.

Those visiting the site from industry may be looking for specific services or partnership opportunities. This includes employers who wish to take on students through the Placement Scheme or make use of staff expertise on a consultancy basis. As well as consultancy, work with industry is often undertaken through collaborative projects. The links overview identifies the full range of opportunities available.
