PhD Opportunities in Engineering

The Engineering Research Institute brings together a multi-disciplinary group of staff from a range of disciplines to undertake various forms of advanced materials research, including such topics as composites, materials characterisation, sensors, biomaterials, plasma processing, metal forming, nanoscience and nanofabrication. Strong International collaborations have been developed and large infrastructural and project funding has been a highlight of this rapidly growing research area.

Postgraduate students in Engineering will most likely work in one of the three main Research Groups or Centres, namely the Nanotechnology and Integrated BioEngineering Centre, the Engineering Compostites Research Centre and the Advanced Metal Forming Research Group.

Please Note: Our studentship competition, for entry in the academic year 2012-2013, is NOW OPEN.

IMPORTANT: You must follow the guidance notes regarding the completion of the application form. Incomplete applications may not be considered.

Applicants should be aware of the competitive nature of the funding competition, which attracts a high number of good quality applications each year for a limited number of awards.
