| How to use this Handbook
The Student Handbook for Computing 2011-12 contains a wealth
of information to inform, guide and support you through your programme
of study in the Faculty of Computing and Engineering. On the menu on
the left you will see four main sections:
Faculty Information: a short introduction to
the Faculty of Computing and Engineering. It includes as welcome
message from the Dean, an overview of the Faculty teaching departments
plus some contact details.
Campus Selection: depending on your location
of study, you can use this section to navigate to specific information
about your department (School). This includes programme and contact
information.
Programme Information: here you will find a
list of all the main computing programmes offered by the Faculty. For
each programme, there is a link to a detailed programme handbook
prepared by your Course Director. This is an important document as it
includes information such as the aims and intended outcomes of your
course, names of the course committee members and the regulations which
govern your assessment and progression on the course. You will see that
the relevant programme handbook depends on your year of entry.
Student Information: this section is a
comprehensive collection of important and useful information on many
aspects of student life in the Faculty. Do acquaint yourself with the
material it contains - topics include the range of teaching and
assessment methods used in the Faculty, rules for examinations, general
study tips plus important advice on various aspects of student behavior.
An important document which complements this subject handbook
is the University's
Student Handbook which contains information on enrolment procedures
and general information about the University.
Finally, some important disclaimer and retention of
information formalities are outlined below.
If you have any
queries about information in this handbook, contact your Studies
Adviser or Course Director for help and advice.
